UEFA B&A Course at the RFEF National Coaching School
The UEFA B&A Course is a single pathway run by the RFEF National Coaching School (Las Rozas) that delivers the UEFA A Diploma by covering the UEFA B block within the same programme. Alternative to the B → A route across two separate regional calls.
- Length: ~10 months (October to August), one yearly intake.
- Standard route: Valid UEFA C licence + 6 months of coaching experience.
- Special route: 7 years in top-flight FIFA/UEFA football, no UEFA C required.
- Venue: Ciudad del Fútbol, Las Rozas. In-person.
- Outcome: UEFA A Diploma = TD-2 (Art. 167 bis, CSD 2025): Tercera RFEF, Segunda RFEF, Primera Federación, División de Honor Juvenil.
What the UEFA B&A is exactly
The Coach Diploma UEFA B&A Course is an official programme of the RFEF National Coaching School that combines the UEFA B and UEFA A blocks into a single yearly pathway. Not two consecutive courses in separate calls: one programme starting in October and finishing in August of the following year, and on passing it you receive the UEFA A Diploma directly.
It is an alternative to the standard regional route (UEFA B in one season, UEFA A in a different one through a regional federation). The national B&A compresses the pathway into a single centralised intake in Las Rozas.
Entry requirements
Two entry routes — a standard one and a special one for former professional players:
- Standard route: Valid UEFA C or Nacional C licence, plus certified 6 months as a coach.
- Special route for former pros: minimum 7 years in top-flight FIFA/UEFA football as a player. UEFA C licence not required.
Common requirements for both routes:
- Valid DNI or NIE.
- Secondary education (ESO) or equivalent.
- Medical certificate proving fitness for sport.
- Sex Offences Certificate from the Spanish Ministry of Justice (Registro Central de Delincuentes Sexuales).
- Passport-style photo.
- Spanish at B1 level (DELE, SIELE or EOI) if Spanish is not your first language. B1, not C1: C1 applies only to the national UEFA Pro course.
Calendar and length
The course spans a full season. For the verified 2025/26 intake:
- Total period: 1 October 2025 → 15 August 2026 (~10.5 months).
- Teaching block: October to May, in person at Ciudad del Fútbol (Las Rozas).
- Placements and final projects: June to August.
- Intake: once per year. Enrolment typically opens in summer (July-August) for an October start. Check the live calendar when applying.

WizardTeaching staff and format
The course is delivered by the National School's core teaching staff, complemented with masterclasses by professional coaches in active service. Verified recent examples:
- Diego Martínez (May 2026, theory + on-pitch session with UEFA B&A and UEFA PRO students in Las Rozas).
- Speakers at the RFEF International Coaches Congress such as Mikel Arteta and Unai Emery (June 2026) routinely engage with programme students.
Direct exposure to top-flight bench figures during training is one of the key differentials of the national format vs the regional route.
Differences vs the regional route (FCF, FFCV, RFAF, etc.)
How taking the national UEFA B&A compares to taking UEFA B + UEFA A separately at a regional federation:
| Axis | Regional route (B + A separated) | National UEFA B&A |
|---|---|---|
| Pathway | UEFA B one season + UEFA A in a different one | Single pathway delivering the UEFA A Diploma |
| Minimum time to UEFA A | 2-3 seasons chaining B → experience → A | ~10 months (Oct → Aug) |
| Former-pro entry route | No dedicated route | Dedicated route without UEFA C, with 7 years top-flight FIFA/UEFA football |
| Venue | Regional federation (Sant Joan Despí, Burjassot, Seville, etc.) | Ciudad del Fútbol, Las Rozas (Madrid) |
| Teaching staff | Regional teaching body | National School staff + masterclasses by active professional coaches |
| Calls per year | Variable by federation, typically 1 | 1 centralised yearly intake |
| Academic equivalence | UEFA A = TD-2 (Art. 167 bis, CSD April 2025) | Same: UEFA A = TD-2 |
What it qualifies you to coach
Passing the UEFA B&A awards you the UEFA A Diploma, professionally equivalent to Sports Technician in Football level 2 (TD-2) under Article 167 bis of the RFEF Regulations (CSD ratification, April 2025). It qualifies you as head coach in:
- Tercera RFEF.
- Segunda RFEF.
- Primera Federación (CSD ratification, April 2025).
- División de Honor Juvenil.
- Senior amateur, regional youth and lower categories.

Frequently asked questions
Is it the same as taking UEFA B and then UEFA A separately?
No. It is a single programme of the RFEF National School that delivers the UEFA A Diploma in one ~10-month intake. The regional route (UEFA B one season, gain experience, enrol in UEFA A another season) takes 2-3 seasons and is run by a regional federation. The professional outcomes are the same (UEFA A = TD-2 under Art. 167 bis), but the pathway and timeline are different.
Do I need a UEFA C licence beforehand?
Through the standard route, yes: a valid UEFA C or Nacional C licence plus a certified 6 months of coaching experience. A special route for former professional players with at least 7 years in top-flight FIFA/UEFA football lets you enter the B&A without holding UEFA C.
Where is it taught and in what format?
In person at the Ciudad del Fútbol, the RFEF headquarters in Las Rozas (Madrid). Teaching combines theory and on-pitch sessions, with visits from active professional coaches (Diego Martínez led a session with UEFA B&A and UEFA PRO students in May 2026).
What Spanish level do they require if I am not a native speaker?
For the UEFA B&A you need Spanish at B1 level, certified by DELE (Instituto Cervantes), SIELE or an equivalent EOI certificate. B1, not C1: C1 is required specifically for the national UEFA Pro course. Other routes (regional UEFA A direct) may require C1 depending on the local call, so always check the published bases before enrolling.
Does it give me the same coaching rights as a regional UEFA A?
Yes. The UEFA A Diploma is the same UEFA level regardless of the route, and the equivalence with TD-2 (Art. 167 bis RFEF, CSD ratification April 2025) applies the same way. Any regional federation will register your licence for head-coach duties in Tercera RFEF, Segunda RFEF, Primera Federación and División de Honor Juvenil.
