How to enrol in a football coaching course in Spain
To enrol in a football coaching course in Spain you register with your regional federation (federation pathway) or with an authorised centre (academic pathway). Most UEFA courses start in September-October and registration opens 1-3 months earlier.
- 1. Find the open call on your federation's website or on the RFEF Academy.
- 2. Gather the paperwork (ID, secondary education, medical certificate, sexual offences check).
- 3. Fill the form and upload the documents on the federation portal (PNFG, iSquad or in-house).
- 4. Pay the fee per the schedule in the call.
- 5. Wait for confirmation of your place and group assignment.
When the calls open
Spain's federation calendar revolves around the sporting season (September to June). The most common rhythm:
- UEFA C, B and A: most regional federations open the call between May and July, with the course starting in September or October. Public example: the FFCV announced its 2026 UEFA C course starting on 7 September 2026.
- UEFA Pro: run by the RFEF through the Escuela Nacional de Entrenadores, usually once a year.
- Sports Technician (academic pathway): enrolment follows each region's vocational training (FP Grado Medio) calendar, normally in June or July.
Exact dates change by federation. Always check the official website of your regional federation before planning.
Paperwork you will need
The minimum list is almost identical across federations for UEFA C entry:
- Valid ID (DNI or NIE).
- Secondary education certificate (ESO) or equivalent (FP1, Intermediate-grade access exam).
- Medical certificate stating fitness for sports activity.
- Sexual offences record check, issued by the Ministry of Justice (free of charge).
- Recent passport-size photo.
- Enrolment form from the official call, signed.
For higher levels (UEFA B, A, Pro) add the certificate of the previous licence and, in some calls, a memoire or admission project. If you hold a foreign qualification, first homologate your title.
Exact steps of the process
The typical flow once you find the open call:
- Create an account on the federation portal (PNFG for most, iSquad for the RFEF, or proprietary for some). It is the same login that will later manage your coaching licence.
- Fill the enrolment form and upload scanned documents in PDF.
- Receive provisional admission by email. The federation reviews your documents in this phase.
- Pay the fee by bank transfer or online gateway within the deadline (usually 7-15 days).
- Receive final admission with group, class calendar and virtual classroom access if applicable.

WizardRegional federation or National School
Who processes your course depends on the level:
- UEFA C, B and A: the Coaching School of your regional federation. Each one runs its own call. If you live in Madrid you enrol with the RFFM; in Catalonia, with the FCF; in Andalusia, with the RFAF; and so on across regions.
- UEFA Pro: RFEF Escuela Nacional de Entrenadores, via the RFEF Academy (academia.rfef.es). The only national route.
- Sports Technician (academic): centres authorised by your region's education authority and by the CSD. Enrolment follows the FP Grado Medio calendar.
Payment and place reservation
Fees usually split into two payments:
- Place reservation: 30-50% of the total, at provisional enrolment.
- Remainder: before the course starts or across one or two instalments during the first months.
Total range: €200-600 for federation UEFA C, €800-1,800 for TD Level 1, €400-1,200 for UEFA B, €2,000-4,500 for UEFA A and €8,000-12,000 for UEFA Pro. Some centres and federations offer extra split payments or financing — check each call.
Common mistakes that delay enrolment
Rejections rarely come from the candidate's level — they come from paperwork. What blocks the most:
- Old sexual offences certificate: it has no legal expiry date, but most federations only accept it if it was issued within the last 3 months (some allow up to 6). Request it just before enrolling and avoid using an old one.
- Generic medical note: the certificate must explicitly state fitness for sports activity, a general health report is not enough.
- Uncertified ESO certificate when the federation requires it. Some demand a certified copy; others accept a digitally signed PDF.
- Late payment: the provisional admission expires fast. Miss the payment window and you lose the place to the next person on the list.
- Enrolling in a federation that is not yours without prior authorisation. Almost all federations require residency or specific paperwork if you enrol outside your region.
Frequently asked questions
How early do I need to enrol?
Aim for 2-3 months before the course starts. UEFA C calls beginning in September usually open enrolment between May and July, and many places fill in the first weeks. Enrolling late can leave you out even if you meet all the requirements.
Can I enrol without a club lined up yet?
Yes. Course enrolment is independent of the club where you will do your mandatory placements. That said, it pays to have a club lined up before the start: placements usually begin a few months in and without a club you cannot complete them on time.
Can I enrol in a federation other than the one of my residence?
It depends on the federation. Some require residency or an explicit authorisation from your home territorial federation. Before enrolling outside your region, call or email both federations involved to confirm they accept the cross-enrolment.
What happens if the call is full?
Ask to be added to the waiting list for that call and check whether another edition is planned in the following months. Some large federations (RFFM, FCF, RFAF) run two or three editions per year. You can also look at neighbouring federations if the venue works for you.
When do I get confirmation after paying?
Typically 5-10 business days between payment and final confirmation, with group assignment and calendar. If after 10 days you have no reply, contact your federation's Coaching School directly — they usually answer faster by email than by phone.
