What is the difference between Técnico Deportivo and UEFA Licence?
Both are professionally equivalent in Spain, but have different origins:
- Sports Technician: Ministry of Education academic title. TD Level 1 = UEFA B, TD Level 2 = UEFA A, TD Level 3 = UEFA Pro.
- UEFA Licence: Federation accreditation (RFEF/UEFA). Faster and cheaper.
What requirements do I need to become a football coach in Spain?
To become a coach in Spain, the minimum requirements are a High School Diploma (ESO) and obtaining a Sports Technician Title or a UEFA License (C, B, A, Pro). These qualifications must be issued by the RFEF or centers authorized by the Ministry of Education.
How much does a grassroots football coach earn in Spain?
A grassroots coach earns between €0 and €500/month depending on age group and club. Under-7/8 typically €0-150; under-9 to 12, €60-220; under-13 to 16, €150-400; and under-17 to 19, €200-500 or more. See the full breakdown by age group.
Can you make a living coaching grassroots football?

Can I work as a football coach if I am a foreigner?
Foreign coaches can work in Spain as long as they complete the Education Homologation with the Ministry and the Recognition of Competencies (RoC) with the RFEF to validate their international license.
How much does the UEFA C coaching course cost in Spain?
Via the federation pathway, the UEFA C course costs between €200 and €600 depending on the regional federation. Via the academic pathway (Sports Technician Level 1) the price rises to €800-1,800, but you can apply for the MEC grant. See the full price comparison.
What can I coach with a UEFA A licence?
With UEFA A you can be head coach in Tercera RFEF, Segunda RFEF and División de Honor Juvenil. For La Liga, Segunda División or national teams, UEFA Pro is required. See the full table by licence.
