FEX courses and enrolment
- UEFA C: €300, with two editions — Cáceres and Mérida —, in person, with mandatory attendance (only 10% of absences can be justified) and a maximum 1:32 ratio. Requirements: ESO certificate or equivalent and a medical certificate.
- UEFA B: €800, in Badajoz, in person, 1:28 ratio. It requires a valid UEFA C plus coaching experience.
- UEFA A: €1,250, in Mérida, in dual format: you must be with a club from the start of the course holding a trainee coaching licence, on a team that also has qualified head and assistant coaches. It requires UEFA B.
- Nacional Experto: €1,500, in Mérida (requires UEFA A).
- Futsal: Nacional C (€300, Mérida, dual with club-based learning) and Nacional B (€800, Cáceres).
Pre-registration deadlines change with every edition: the current ones appear in the notices at the top of this guide and on each course listing at academia.rfef.es. Before paying, check the cost, calendar and attendance rules on the listing. If you do not have a club yet — essential for UEFA A given its dual format —, first see how the club requirement for placements works, and for the step-by-step process, how to enrol in a coaching course.

Minimum qualification per category
The FEX publishes its chart as a qualification table — what each level lets you coach — and sets a clear floor: no category can be coached without a qualification, not even the Zagalín (the Extremaduran pre-benjamín), where UEFA C is already required. UEFA B adds youth football up to Primera División Territorial and senior football up to Segunda División Extremeña; UEFA A reaches Liga Nacional Juvenil and Primera División Extremeña; and UEFA Pro covers División de Honor Juvenil and the national tiers.
Non-compliance carries an explicit, quantified sanction: the FEX Disciplinary Code (July 2026) classifies coaching with the wrong qualification or without a licence as a serious offence, punished with a three-month to two-year suspension and a fine of up to €600 (article 72.c). Since 2025/26 the Continuing Education Certificate (15 hours every 3 years) is also mandatory to register a licence with a club.
If you want an academic qualification with access to the Ministry grant, consider the Sports Technician: longer and more expensive, but with an official title. TD Level 1 equals UEFA B (TD Level 2 = UEFA A; TD Superior = UEFA Pro), per Article 167 bis of the RFEF Regulations. Compare both routes in Sports Technician vs UEFA licence.
What each level lets you coach in Extremaduran football
| Level | Covers (football) |
|---|---|
| UEFA C | All grassroots football up to cadete (from Zagalín), Segunda División Territorial youth and Primera Extremeña Femenina |
| UEFA B | The above + youth up to Primera División Territorial and senior up to Segunda División Extremeña |
| UEFA A | The above + Liga Nacional Juvenil and senior up to Primera División Extremeña |
| UEFA Pro | The above + División de Honor Juvenil and national tiers (from Tercera upwards) |

Sports Technician and grants in Extremadura
The academic route has a double offer in Extremadura. On one side, CEDIFEX — the federation's own study centre, authorised by the regional Education Department — teaches all three levels: TD1 (€1,000), TD2 (€1,200) and TD Superior (€1,400), with instalment payment; confirm current prices before enrolling, as the published documents are a few years old. On the other, IES Al-Qázeres in Cáceres, a public centre with all three levels, whose entry test (€37.71) is called in late August with sittings in the first half of September — the current window appears in the notices on this guide.
As for grants, there is no regional line to fund the start of your training: the Junta's Pódium Programme (€300 to €30,000) is a prize for athletes and coaches who already hold official high-performance status, not for beginners. The Sports Technician route at IES Al-Qázeres (a public centre) does give access to the general Ministry grant. All funding options are covered in grants and scholarships for the coaching course.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the UEFA C course cost in Extremadura?
FEX's UEFA C for 2026/27 costs €300 — among the cheapest in Spain — and runs in two editions: Cáceres and Mérida. It is in person, with mandatory attendance (only 10% of absences can be justified), a maximum of 32 students per teacher and classes from September to May. The requirements are the ESO certificate or equivalent and a medical certificate. Enrolment is on academia.rfef.es and the current deadline appears in the notices on this guide.
Which licence do I need to coach in Extremadura?
In Extremadura no category can be coached without a qualification: the floor is UEFA C (€300) from Zagalín up to cadete, Segunda Territorial youth and Primera Extremeña Femenina; UEFA B (€800) adds youth up to Primera Territorial and senior up to Segunda División Extremeña; and UEFA A (€1,250) reaches Liga Nacional Juvenil and Primera División Extremeña. Coaching without the required qualification is a serious offence: a three-month to two-year suspension and a fine of up to €600 (article 72.c of the Disciplinary Code).
What is FEX's UEFA A course like?
The Extremaduran UEFA A for 2026/27 costs €1,250 and runs in Mérida in dual format: you must be with a team from the start of the course holding a trainee coaching licence, on a club that also has qualified head and assistant coaches, plus hold a UEFA B licence. Pre-registration goes through academia.rfef.es (current deadline in the notices on this guide). It opens the door to Liga Nacional Juvenil and to Primera División Extremeña as head coach.
Where can you study the Sports Technician in Football in Extremadura?
At two centres: CEDIFEX, the federation's own study centre authorised by the Education Department, with all three levels (TD1 €1,000, TD2 €1,200, TD Superior €1,400, instalment payment available — confirm current prices); and IES Al-Qázeres in Cáceres, a public centre also covering all three levels, whose entry test costs €37.71 and is called in late August. TD Level 1 equals UEFA B and TD Level 2 equals UEFA A (Article 167 bis of the RFEF Regulations).
Are there grants for the coaching course in Extremadura?
Not to start your training: the Junta's Pódium Programme (€300-€30,000) is a prize reserved for athletes and coaches who already hold official high-performance status, and there is no regional line equivalent to La Rioja's individual grant. If you study the Sports Technician at IES Al-Qázeres (a public centre), you can apply for the general Ministry grant; CEDIFEX offers instalment payment across its three levels as its main facility.
