Which procedures you need depending on what you want to do in Spain

Two separate pathways — pick the one that fits your goal

What you need depends on what you actually want to do in Spain: coach with your current UEFA licence, access the next level of the Spanish pathway, or convert your foreign title into an official Spanish Sports Technician (TD) qualification.

1. Federation pathway (RFEF)

With a valid UEFA licence from a signatory federation of the UEFA Coaching Convention (Portugal, France, Italy, etc.) you can already coach in Spain with no extra procedure. The Recognition of Competencies (RoC) is only needed if you want to access the next level of the Spanish pathway.

  • Document required by the regional federation: Certificate of Recognition of UEFA Competencies, also referred to in the UEFA A course bases as "Formación transfronteriza".
  • Managed by the National Coaching School, decided by the RFEF Quality Commission.

2. Academic pathway (Ministry of Education)

Only needed if you want the official Spanish Sports Technician (TD) qualification within the education system. NOT required to enrol in a UEFA course at a regional federation.

  • Homologation of secondary education (ESO/Bachillerato) with the Ministry of Education: €25-48, 3-8 months.
  • Applies if you enrol in the Sports Technician vocational programme (public IES schools or authorised centres like CENAFE, ANEF). Procedure at the Electronic Office.

What is Conditional Enrollment?

Vocational schools let you start the Sports Technician programme by presenting only the application receipt for homologation.

Indispensable Common Requirements

Identification (NIE)

You need a Foreigner Identity Number for the federation or the centre to register you.

Spanish language certificate

If Spanish is not your first language: UEFA C course bases typically ask for "accredited command of Spanish" without a specific CEFR level. For UEFA A, documented C1 (DELE / SIELE / EOI) is mandatory. UEFA B varies by call — check the specific bases before enrolling.
