• Players: 12, in two teams of six; no goalkeepers.
• Area: 30 × 25 metres with a 3-metre receiving zone at each end. Adjust the dimensions to the group’s ability.
• Duration: three 3-minute blocks with 1-minute breaks to recover and coach.
• Organisation: one team starts from its own end and tries to find a teammate entering the opposite zone. The other team presses. On a regain, the roles and attacking direction reverse; after a score or when the ball goes out, the defending team restarts.
• Rule: score one point for receiving a controlled pass inside the opposing end zone. The receiver must enter after the pass, rather than wait inside.
• Cue: on a backward pass, the nearest defender presses the ball while teammates close nearby options. Avoid two defenders chasing the same ball carrier.

Coaching intervention: “While one player gets to the ball, who blocks the next pass?” If opponents beat the first press easily, check the unit’s spacing before asking for more speed.

What to observe: over five attempts, record how often pressure on the ball is accompanied by closing two nearby passing options. Compare the first and third blocks. If building out is too difficult, enlarge the area; if it is too easy for the ball carrier, reduce it slightly.
